RE: Sayulita campground recomendations

Thanks for the info on LaPenita. We will most certainly stop in there to check it out. Keep an eye out for our little Vanguard you can see on our website in our signature block. We'll be in around Christmas.
Thanks again.\

RE: Sayulita campground recomendations

Hi and thanks for the replys. We will be taking our little 22 foot rig and not the Revolution. There are a few reasons we are heading there including meeting up with someone. Nothing is set in stone but this is a possibility. I would be interested in other suggestions in this area including other towns etc. Although we will be arriving before Christmas we probably won't be leaving until after. We are not the types for reservations and tend to wing it. Our rig is small and typically we have found it easy to squeeze in somewhere. We hope to leave more fluent than we arrive.

Sayulita campground recomendations

Hi Folks. Can anyone recommend a nice RV park, preferably on the beach, in Sayulita. Beach camping is acceptable, services would be nice but not required. Location and security is more important than cost. We are functional but not fluent in Spanish.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Brake Buddy Vantage Disaster

You may want to talk to a different person there. They refunded my entire amount when they couldn't mine to work either after trying two of the new vantage units. They sent back my classic model which works fine. I would like to upgrade to the newer model but they are not functional over about 32 feet. Too bad as I think they are loosing lots of sales on this issue.

RE: Air Conditioner shedding

Good evening supercub. I guess my comment would be if they are shedding the EMS is operating properly. It is shedding a compressor when the total current gets close to 28 amps. Your two ACs will run fine on 30 amp service. If you want to avoid the shedding put the water heater and fridge on propane. After that the only draw is a few amps from the converter (more if the batteries are down). This should keep the EMS from shedding the one compressor.
By the way, in my opnion, 13.5 is a little high for that Air Conditioner depending on what the outside temp was at the time. Do you recall how hot it was when it was checked? Also, unless it is very hot (95F) a single AC should keep your rig cool
Hope this helps.

RE: Dsert Gem - Oliver

Well here's a little balance on the Desert Gem. We stay there every year on the way south and have never had a bad experience yet. We use it as a prestaging point before heading south of the border. The staff is always great, the park is always clean and although a little tight on some of the corners in my opinion it is far from a Walmart Parking lot. Hopefully it was just one of those annomalies. We'll continue to leave it on our highly recomended list. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

RE: outdoor resorts Indio Ca

Can't see how you won't enjoy your winter there. We have a few friends who have lots there and really enjoy them. It just wasn't for us but this is a perfect example of what each of us finds attractive. The very things you liked about yours and disliked about ours was just the opposite as us. Strictly a matter of personal taste. I especially like the entrance way to your resort. Looks nice when you turn in off of 48th. Have a great winter and stop in for a cold one some day. We'll be there around the first week of November

RE: outdoor resorts Indio Ca

There are actually three in the area. There is also Outdoor Resort Palm Springs (actually in Cathedral city). We looked at and stayed in all three for a week or so before buying there 4 years ago. Try em all before you decide. They each have their own merits. Some of the reasons we chose in Outdoor Resort Palm Springs were location, facilities, size, orchard, amenities, golf courseRV parts and convenience store etc. This is all personal taste stuff so what works for us may work for you. They are all nice. Happy to answer any questions for you. Good luck.

RE: 22.5 vs. 19.5

Some chassis (W22) are available with 19.5s as options. By going with the 19.5's you will have a little more CCC. Personally I think the ride would suffer though by going to the smaller rim and tire. I guess it depends on your priorities. GVWR is the same for both chassis with 19.5 or 22.5's

RE: Freightliner vs. Spartan Chasis

Your best choice will be made by driving them all. All have high and low end chassis. If Dynomax is on the list (Country Coach and I think Foretravel) I would tend to lean that way if it was me. As I can't afford one I will probably stay in the Spartan/Freightliner crowd. Of the two I have no favourite but would instead see what you like better...IFS or non IFS. I prefer the non IFS (solid beam) as I just find they track better and are more relaxing to drive. Others like the IFS for their bump handling etc. One thing though, a 10 minute test drive won't cut it, get it out for half an hour or so. I get to drive a bunch of different mohos in my line of work and lifestyle and it's interesting the subtle differences each make. Before you drive anything check that the tire pressures are correct as they can mask the handling of a chassis charachteristics. eg if someone has 120 in all the tires on a 33000 GVW spartan IT'S GONNA RIDE ROUGH". A Monaco Roadmaster will tend to ride rough regardless but has some desirable qualities as well.
Good luck. Have fun

RE: brake buddy

As per Norm your brakes will only come on if you step on your service breaks. We set ours a little tighter and we set them so they come on a little easier. One of our toad weighs 9600 pounds (see link in sig for a picture) and we tend to use the technique of letiing the exhaust brake hold us back to the 2500 RPM point, then reasonably hard on the brake to 1900 and then let it drift up again. It takes a reasonably steep hill to do this and for the most part the exhaust brake does most of the job. I don't believe a brake buddy is the best approach to toad braking but coupled with good technique it works for us...and has for 6 years and over 110000 KM on two motorhomes and two toads.

RE: Any more rumours on an Outdoor Resorts in Borrego Springs

Wa8... So are you suggesting that it is maybe Outdoor World I heard and not Outdoor Resorts?. I am not familiar with Outdoor World although I seem to remember a retail chain by that name or something like it. Do you have more info on them.
Outdoor Resorts is not the only high end RV resort developer that does a good job. We have been to a few that do a nice job including the one in Havasu. Nice spot but a little close to the airport for us...also a little too cool in the winter for Canadian Snowbirds. Probably quite nice in summer though.
Seems to me it would be a good time for a developer to aquire real estate for that kind of venture right now. Just a thought.

Any more rumours on an Outdoor Resorts in Borrego Springs

This is a year old or so rumour but wonder if there is anything to it. I suspect the current disintegration of the US financial system and economy may put a damper on any big developments but I can't help but think there might still be a market for it. We like the area and find it quiet and peaceful. Any info out there?????????

RE: Fleetwood gets Army contract

Ditto here. I suspect our next coach will be an American Tradition or Eagle. The only other coach we like at this point is a Magna. But really with the kinda luck we have had with Fleetwood I can't see looking anywhere else at this point. We are on our second Fleetwood Motorhome. 5 Years of fulltiming in the latest. RE: How old our your tires?

6 Years old, having them checked once a year now. Getting two opinions from trusted tire agents.
When you have them checked do they take them off and look or just an external check?
External, mounted, everyone, takes em a while though

RE: I Know, I Know, it's About Walmart

Have never understood why anyone would overnight in a campground in a self contained unit when a private land owner nearby invites you to stay in a well lit lot with all the amenities of shopping and security for free. What amenities would a campground possibly have to offer that I could need for 12 hours.
Can you possibly pay more money than Outdoor resorts in Palm Springs ??? Oh My Goodness...and this is what you said in a previous thread.
:S
We own a lot in Outdoor Resorts Palm Springs
Amazing...just amazing !!
OK. Trying to figure out what a destination resort would have to do with a 12 hour overnight stop. Tune me up here as I seem to be missing it. We are talking about convenient overnight stops in a self contained rig...and a campground ain't it.
